Meet Tara
As an Art Therapist, I know that sometimes words simply aren’t enough. Feelings and experiences can be difficult to explain, or the words may come out in ways that don’t quite communicate what someone is actually trying to say. I integrate art therapy, traditional talk therapy, somatic (body-based) awareness, and movement to create different pathways for expression, exploration, and healing. Together, we can begin to understand how past experiences may be shaping present-day patterns and find new ways of responding.
I also love bringing each person’s interests, creativity, humor, and personality into therapy. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. I strive to create a space that is calm, curious, nonjudgmental, and affirming—a place where clients can explore their identities, relationships, experiences, and the many different parts of themselves without feeling like they have to have everything figured out.
My style blends directness and gentle honesty with warmth, empathy, humor, and genuine human connection. Therapy can be vulnerable and, at times, overwhelming. I believe there can be room for the hard conversations alongside creativity, movement, mindfulness, laughter, and moments of simply being human together.
When I’m not in the office, you can usually find me “nerding out” over birds and searching for my next lifer, making art, spending time with my family and dogs, or happily vegging out in front of the TV. When I am in the therapy room, though, I’m deeply committed to being present with the person in front of me.
One of my favorite quotes from Carl Jung captures the kind of therapeutic relationship I hope to create:
“Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul be just another human soul.”

Tara Harding, LPAT, ATR-BC
Hi! I’m Tara Harding, a licensed and board-certified Art Therapist with more than 15 years of experience supporting children, teens, young adults, and adults. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with people from age 3 to 80+, though I have a particular passion for working with preteens, teens, and young adults.
I specialize in supporting young people who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and neurodivergence—especially when what’s happening underneath shows up on the outside as anger, aggression, defiance, shutting down, or lashing out. Rather than focusing only on the behavior, I’m interested in getting curious about what the behavior may be communicating and helping clients better understand what is happening beneath the surface.
