Understand Your Child’s Behaviors with Parent Coaching

After a year-long immersion into a parent coaching program called Being With™, created by Robyn Gobbel, Megan invites you to partner with her in looking at the science behind your child’s behaviors. The behaviors are just the tip of the iceberg. This approach looks at behaviors as clues to help us see what’s really happening within your child’s brain, body, heart, and nervous system - underneath the iceberg.

Through our time together we will use this lens to figure out the real problem AND, because we want real, lasting change, Megan will join with you in looking beyond just “fixing” the behaviors (symptoms) to developing practical ways to help yourself stay regulated and connected, even in the face of difficult behavior.

During a Parent Coaching session, Megan will provide psychoeducation, support, tools, and accountability through the lens of relational neuroscience, neurobiology, and attachment theory. These sessions will help you feel confident in your parenting and more connected to your child/teen. You will be able to rest in the truth that you can’t control your child's behaviors and no matter what you observe on the outside, your child is a precious, perfectly imperfect kid who has been impacted by trauma, neurodivergence and/or challenges outside their control.

Coaching sessions with Megan will help you settle into the reality that you (and your child) are always doing the very best you can.

  • Coaching does not include diagnosis. We focus more on the now and the how, and typically on a particular challenge. Coaching is a space where we narrow in to better understand what is happening, and I provide you with concrete, evidence informed practical guidance.

Fifteen plus years of experience as a child and family therapist informs all of my parent coaching work, but parent coaching is not therapy. Therapy focuses more on the past and the why, and typically concerns longer-term, larger life issues. I do not meet with your kiddo as the focus of my work is with you, the caregiver.

Coaching does not diagnose, therefore, is not able to be billed through insurance.

  • “As a therapist, I believe that if your kid is struggling it is good to get support and education in your parenting. We came to Megan because we were struggling with some behaviors and feeling confused and frustrated about how to ‘manage’ them and help our child. Megan heard us and helped us understand each other and feel more connected to each other, ourselves, and our child. She helped us to tune in and offer our child co-regulation. Happily, so many things improved for us and we are thriving and better resetting when we hit obstacles.”

  • “My wife and I have been benefiting from parent coaching sessions with Megan. She is a highly skilled coach, and these sessions have been very valuable...She listens, really listens, and hears what you say, how you feel, and also hears what you don't say. Plus, she reflects it back to you for clarity...We feel very fortunate that we found such a skilled expert and caring person.”
