Healing Trauma with Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
A trauma-informed, carefully supported approach for individuals in the Louisville, Kentucky, area navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, or feeling stuck despite traditional therapy.
When Traditional Approaches Haven’t Been Enough
If you have been living with depression, anxiety, trauma-related symptoms, or a nervous system that feels stuck in survival mode — even after trying traditional therapy or medications — Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) may be a supportive next step.
At Woven Nest Counseling and Coaching in Louisville, KY, Megan Green, LCSW, RPT-S offers trauma-informed Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy in collaboration with a licensed medical provider.
Ketamine can create openness. Ketamine Assisted Pyschotherapy makes that openness safe, supported, and lasting.
KAP is not about forcing breakthroughs.
It’s about creating the conditions for safety, openness, and real change.
How Ketamine Therapy May Help
Ketamine has a growing body of research in mental health care, particularly for treatment-resistant depression. Some individuals experience rapid reduction in depressive symptoms and suicidality when ketamine is offered in a structured course of care and paired with psychotherapy.
Researchers believe ketamine may:
Enhance neuroplasticity (the brain’s ability to form new connections)
Temporarily soften rigid thought patterns
Quiet fear-based looping
Create emotional flexibility and perspective shifts
Responses vary. Careful medical screening is essential. Ketamine therapy is not appropriate for everyone — but for some individuals in Louisville seeking alternatives, it can open a new pathway forward.
Megan’s Approach to Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy
Megan Green, LCSW, RPT-S is a Level 1 therapist trained in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy through the Living Medicine Institute. She provides the psychotherapy component of care and collaborates with a medical doctor who evaluates, prescribes, and oversees the ketamine treatment.
Megan’s style is steady, warm, and practical — rooted in nervous system science, trauma-informed care, and deep respect for pacing and consent.
In KAP, Megan focuses on:
• Building felt safety and clarity before any medicine work
• Strengthening regulation and resourcing skills
• Supporting self-compassion and parts-aware exploration
• Offering relational presence rather than intensity
• Helping translate insights into real-life change
Safety always comes first. Integration matters more than insight chasing.

We begin with a free consultation to explore fit, answer questions, and discuss your goals, history, and support system.
-
Ketamine is prescribed and managed by a collaborating physician, who completes screening, reviews contraindications, and determines the safest route and dose.
-
Preparation is what makes KAP psychotherapy — not just medicine.
In prep sessions, we may focus on:
• Clarifying intentions in a grounded way
• Creating safety and support plans
• Understanding what altered states can feel like
• Building resources for surrender and regulation
• Identifying what helps you feel safe with vulnerability
• Mapping out integration from the start -
IV and IM ketamine sessions are overseen and administered by a licensed medical provider in a medical clinic setting. Megan collaborates closely with the prescribing clinician and supports the therapeutic container before and after the medicine session. If desired and arranged in advance, Megan can also be present with you during your IV or IM session at the clinic to provide therapeutic support and continuity of care.
Sublingual (troche/lozenge) sessions may take place in Megan’s warm and cozy office space, depending on medical clearance and appropriateness. These sessions are also prescribed and overseen by a medical provider, with Megan facilitating the psychotherapy component in a carefully prepared, supportive environment.
Clients often experience shifts in perception, emotion, and body awareness during ketamine sessions. Some describe visual imagery, deep reflection, softened defenses, or a sense of spaciousness and expanded perspective. Eyeshades and curated music are commonly used to support an inward journey, and therapeutic support is always available if discomfort or intensity arises.
Because ketamine can temporarily affect coordination, perception, and reaction time, transportation home is required after all medicine sessions. Driving is not permitted until the following day.

Integration is where change consolidates.
Post-session therapy helps you:
• Make meaning without over-interpreting
• Track nervous system shifts
• Work with tenderness, grief, or activation
• Translate insights into sustainable next steps
• Build new patterns in relationships, habits, and self-trust
What to Expect: The KAP Process
Routes of Administration
The prescribing physician will determine the best option based on your needs and safety considerations. Common routes include:
• Intranasal (nasal spray in a medical setting)
• Intramuscular (injection with a distinct onset and arc)
• Intravenous (infusion with precise medical control)
• Sublingual (lozenges absorbed in the mouth)
Each route differs in timing, intensity, and recovery — but preparation and integration remain essential in all cases.
Individuals seeking rapid progress in their healing journey.
Those with demanding schedules seeking an alternative to weekly therapy sessions.
Anyone feeling stuck in their current therapy process or looking to deepen their therapeutic work.
Individuals preparing for significant life events or transitions, seeking mental and emotional readiness.
