Understand Your Child’s Behaviors with Parent Coaching

What's Really Going On Beneath the Behavior?

Parent Coaching Through the Lens of Neurobiology, Attachment, and Connection

Parenting can be one of the most rewarding experiences in life—and one of the most challenging. When your child is struggling with intense emotions, explosive behaviors, anxiety, shutdowns, defiance, school difficulties, or other "big, baffling behaviors," it can be difficult to know what they need and how to respond in ways that actually help.

After completing a year-long immersion and advanced training through the Baffling Behavior Training Institute™, founded by Dr. Robyn Gobbel, Megan Green, LCSW, RPT-S, invites you to partner with her in understanding the science beneath your child’s behavior.

In this approach, behavior is viewed as communication. The behaviors we see on the surface—the tip of the iceberg—offer important clues about what is happening deeper within a child’s brain, body, nervous system, and emotional world. Rather than asking, “What’s wrong with my child?” we begin asking, “What’s happening inside my child that is leading to this behavior?”

Together, we will explore how neurobiology, attachment, trauma, stress, sensory needs, developmental differences, and neurodivergence can influence behavior. By understanding the "why" beneath the behavior, parents often experience greater compassion, confidence, and clarity in responding to their child.

Parent coaching sessions are designed to support you—not just your child. Through psychoeducation, practical tools, reflection, and ongoing accountability, Megan helps parents strengthen their ability to stay regulated, connected, and intentional during difficult moments. Because when children struggle, parents often need support, understanding, and care as well.

During coaching, you will learn how to:

  • Understand behavior through the lens of the nervous system

  • Recognize signs of stress, overwhelm, and dysregulation

  • Respond in ways that increase connection, safety, and trust

  • Reduce power struggles and strengthen cooperation

  • Support your child’s emotional regulation and resilience

  • Navigate challenges related to trauma, anxiety, ADHD, autism, adoption, and other developmental differences

  • Build confidence in your parenting decisions and responses

  • Better understand your own nervous system and how it impacts your parenting

This work goes beyond managing behaviors or implementing consequences.

While practical strategies are certainly part of the process, lasting change happens when we understand the deeper needs driving behavior and create environments where children can feel safe enough to grow, learn, and thrive.

Many parents come to coaching feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, disconnected, or worried they are somehow getting it wrong. Over time, they often find themselves letting go of shame, blame, and the pressure to control every behavior. Instead, they begin to trust their instincts, understand their child more deeply, and respond from a place of connection rather than reactivity.

No matter what behaviors you are seeing on the outside, your child is more than their struggles. They are a precious, perfectly imperfect human being whose brain and nervous system have been shaped by their experiences. Parent coaching can help you make sense of those experiences, strengthen your relationship with your child, and develop practical tools that support lasting change for the entire family.

Most importantly, this work helps parents settle into a compassionate truth: both you and your child are doing the very best you can with the skills, resources, experiences, and nervous system capacity available in each moment. From that place of understanding and connection, healing and growth become possible.

  • “As a therapist, I believe that if your kid is struggling it is good to get support and education in your parenting. We came to Megan because we were struggling with some behaviors and feeling confused and frustrated about how to ‘manage’ them and help our child. Megan heard us and helped us understand each other and feel more connected to each other, ourselves, and our child. She helped us to tune in and offer our child co-regulation. Happily, so many things improved for us and we are thriving and better resetting when we hit obstacles.”
