Get to Know Megan

I come to this work with the lived experience of trauma in my life and a continual journey of healing from that trauma that has included symptoms of depression and anxiety. I deeply understand the power of therapy because I’ve experienced it firsthand. I’ve done (and continue to do) the hard work of healing and self-growth and am firmly committed to a life of self-exploration. I wouldn’t ask you to do something I haven’t done. I am deeply humbled by the therapy process and love being in this work.

I am currently in the process of becoming a certified Integrative Mental Health Practitioner which incorporates nutrition, movement and mindfulness into clinical work. As a person with Type 1 diabetes, I have special interest and expertise in working with those who have been recently diagnosed or are living with a chronic illness.

Also, as my personal and professional lives have been deeply impacted by complicated grief, I have and continue to expand my knowledge and skill in this area. In 2023, I completed Megan Devine’s Grief Care Professional Certificate Program. Based on my life experiences and training, I also offer a unique, sound approach to working with suicide, grief, and people with vulnerable nervous systems due to chronic stress and/or trauma.

I am fortunate and profoundly grateful to have found my passion (which also happens to be my career) in/of supporting people across the lifespan - children, teens, adults and families - through struggles and challenges that life and our chaotic world present. I use an eclectic approach rooted in neurobiology and relational neuroscience to meet you where you are with what works for you.

My past work experiences include child welfare, crisis work, intensive in-home therapy with children and families, school-based counseling, general individual counseling, and medical social work.

I have had the honor of calling Louisville, Kentucky my home for most of my life. While pursuing my bachelors degree in a non-related field, I began to realize that what really fed my soul was helping and connecting with others. My path became clear when I began studying social work with a concentration in child and family welfare at Spalding University. I knew intuitively this was my passion and I decided to deepen my learning by obtaining my master’s degree in social work from University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work.

I deeply believe that each of us has a well of inner resources, innate wisdom and strength, to tap into/call upon when faced with life’s challenges, adversities, and chaos. I view my role as being one to facilitate and cultivate that process with you.
